I think I´ve found security hole in bloglines.com

When I was searching google.de today with my companies name „gojou“ I got several search-results: The first 5 entries hit our website and some sub-categories….but then I found a „bloglines-feed“ regarding my companies project server basecamp-hq. MMmmmh, our project server serves an RSS-feed with all the new comments and uploaded files etc. This is a very nice feature, unless: EVERYBODY CAN READ IT. *bang* Is it my fault? Of course I´m getting all my feeds through bloglines.com, but why the hell do they make them google-searchable? I wrote them an email, suggesting to let the user decide, wether he wants his feeds being searchable, or not. What do you think?
UPDATE: I´ve to admit, that there seems to be no security hole in bloglines.com but in my head. Thx to Oliver who told me, that you can mark a feed as „private“, so that it won´t show in google…Thx, my friend 😉

Blogging gets serious

I had a very interesting conversation with my friend Oli yesterday night, and we both agreed, that efficient marketing and advertisements will be a question of their measureability in the future. Now here comes blabble.com. Though it´s jst out for beta-testing it is a very powerfull tool for getting statistics over several keywords throughout a mass of blogs: what do people blog about Napoleon Dynamite, which phrases do they use the most? (By the way, I´ve just bought ecto, and I´ve to say….it ROCKS!!!)

openbc.com offline

Mh, openbc.com (a german speaking social network) seems to be currently offline. Usually it´s a quite solid service – so I´m quite angry at the moment, because I just wanted to send a private mail to another openbc.com user, and in the moment I hit the send-button the system quit. grr.

Difference between weblogs and message boards

This is a good post about the differences between weblogs and message-boards. And I have to admit – weblogs are good – forums are shit. (This might be a bit polemic, but it´s my view) We used a weblog to coordintae all our projects in our design-agency. We had to manage the informations for all our contractors and customers. During the time we had our weblog, people were motivated to post, giving in personal views and opinions. You were also informed about every new entry via RSS. For some reason we then tried to use a forum as a knowledge base – it didn´t work. Our contractors somehow weren´t motivitated a post a single post at all. Even we managed to put „a little bit“ RSS in it (using a bloglines e-mail feed)it wasn´t that handy as our former weblog. At the moment we are using a very good projectserver, which has ann RSS feed, and a weblog like-message board (basecamp-hq). This somehow is the perfect combination of the two worlds.

SideTrack: what a nice tool

powerbook-blogger reports about a very nice tool: SideTrack. This is really cool: you can power up your standard trackpad into a windows-like trackpad with positioning several shortcuts in the four corners, or using it for scrolling up and down. I haven´t tried it yet, but already made a download. I´m excited. 😉

amazon buys chinese bookstore

fastcompany reports, that amazon has just bought the big chinese bookstore-chain joyo.com. I wonder if this is the easiest way for companies to settle on the chinese market. As you can read from several posts from the China Herald globalization and open markets are still a dream
in china. So, it would be interesting to follow if amazon.com will sell chinese-critical books over joyo.com, or if they will arrange with the chinese-censorship in some way.

Hate it or love it: viral marketinggoes AMOK!

As marketingvox.com reports, the viral campaign of the new game Resident evil: Outbreak let´s users send spam messages via mobiles to their friends. They get a certain code and are then able to spam other users, too. Hooo…I really like viral marketing, but: maybe spamming goes a little bit too far. What do you think?

Free Porn in china!

It´s really astonishing how well chinese authorities are controlling their „internet“ (if you could really use this term). They just have arrested hundreds of chinese porn-site-operators because of their business.
